American Symbols

We have been learning about Government in Social Studies. One focus of this unit included a study of American Symbols, including The Statue of Liberty, the bald eagle, the American Flag, and the Liberty Bell. To deepen our understanding of these symbols, students worked in small groups to read about one symbol, determine the Main Idea and Supporting Details, and then present their information to the large group. Each student had a role in the group's resposibilities - leader, writer, time keeper, or presenter.
